On successful completion of all the below courses, a Statement of Attainment will be issued to each participant.

 

MINING COMPETENCIES

Standard 11 Surface & Underground Induction – Duration 3 days

Course Overview

The purpose of this program is to introduce new and existing mine workers to the induction requirements of recognised standard 11 including the 6 x mandatory units of competency. An extra unit of competency for the underground component is required of those working on underground mine sites.

Participants who successfully complete this training program will be issued with:

  • a QTAD induction ID card
  • a workplace assessment booklet to finalise the practical components of Standard 11 units (return to training office)

 Supervisor Course – Duration 2 days

Course Overview

On successful completion of this training program, learners will have acquired the skills and knowledge to enable them to undertake the role of and perform the duties and position requirements of a Mine Safety and Health Representative as detailed in the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act 1999.  The Supervisor course is made up of three (3) units of competency.  A Statement of Attainment will be issued on the successful completion of all three units.

  • RIICOM31D (S3) Communicate Information

 G2 Course – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  The unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles.  No licencing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

DRIVER TRAINING – Mining, Industry & Government

Operate Light Vehicle – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to operate a light vehicle in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.  Defensive Driving is also available with this course.

 Operate and Maintain 4wD Vehicles – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory and technical specialist roles.

Operate Vehicles in the Field – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

In a typical scenario an operations technician patrols areas of pipeline or follows pipelines across a variety of terrains looking for problems which require maintenance or reporting.  During the course of their work they must check the vehicle for mechanical soundness before leaving base, ensure it is securely and adequately packed, make certain their communications equipment and contact schedule are in order and generally be prepared for long periods off-road.

Apply Safe Car Driving Behaviours – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit involves the high-level safe driving skills and knowledge required by car drivers to enable them to apply safe driving behaviours.  This includes higher order skills, such as hazard perception, risk control and safe driving judgement, decision making and multi-tasking.  Licencing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements are applicable to this unit.

Apply Safe Heavy Vehicle Driving Behaviours – Duration 2 days

Course Overview

Course Overview

This unit describes the outcomes required to safely operate a four wheel drive (4×4) vehicle on unsealed roads and tracks.

Recover four wheel drive vehicles – Duration 2 days

Course Overview

This unit covers the use of a variety of recovery equipment and advanced skills to recover four wheel drive vehicles in difficult terrain conditions.

Work Safely at Heights – 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights.

Low Voltage Rescue & CPR – 4hrs

Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.  It covers the performance of rescue procedures from live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace.  It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Enter and Work in Confined Spaces- 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to safely work in and around confined spaces in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work in confined spaces.

FIRST AID COMPETENCIES

HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – 1/2 day

Course Overview:

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid – 1 day

Course Overview:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid – 2 days

Course Overview:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation – 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Course Overview

This unit covers the competency required to administer restricted analgesics as a part of a medically supervised first responder organisation.

State/territory licensing procedures for the storage and administration of drugs apply to this unit.

AVIATION COMPETENCIES

HUET Course – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

In an emergency scenario, a person traveling by helicopter to an offshore facility may have to exit the aircraft under abnormal conditions.  This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to exit an aircraft during underwater escape situations, including making appropriate survival decisions and working with others.  Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements are applicable to this unit.

Competencies include:

  • AVIF2014 Undertake aircraft underwater escape and survival

Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) Course – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to utilise emergency breathing systems (EBS) during underwater escape situations.  Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements are applicable to this unit.

Certificate III in Aviation (Rescue crewman) – Duration 3-4 weeks

Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of a rescue crewman working in the helicopter operational environment.  Successful completion will require competency in units that relate to work defined as aligned at AQF Level 3.
