On successful completion of all the below courses, a Statement of Attainment will be issued to each participant.

 

MINING COMPETENCIES

Standard 11 Surface & Underground Induction – Duration 3 days

Course Overview

The purpose of this program is to introduce new and existing mine workers to the induction requirements of recognised standard 11 including the 6 x mandatory units of competency. An extra unit of competency for the underground component is required of those working on underground mine sites.

Participants who successfully complete this training program will be issued with:

  • a QTAD induction ID card
  • a workplace assessment booklet to finalise the practical components of Standard 11 units (return to training office)

  • RIIERR205D Apply initial response first aid
  • RIIERR302E Respond to local emergencies and incidents
  • RIIGOV201E Comply with site work procedures
  • RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control

  • RIIERR203E Escape from hazardous situations unaided – UNDERGROUND UNIT

 Supervisor Course – Duration 2 days

Course Overview

On successful completion of this training program, learners will have acquired the skills and knowledge to enable them to undertake the role of and perform the duties and position requirements of a Mine Safety and Health Representative as detailed in the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act 1999.  The Supervisor course is made up of three (3) units of competency.  A Statement of Attainment will be issued on the successful completion of all three units.

  • RIIWHS301E (S2) Conduct safety and health investigations
  • RIICOM31E (S3) Communicate Information

 G2 Course – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to carry out risk management processes in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  The unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles.  No licencing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

DRIVER TRAINING – Mining, Industry & Government

Operate Light Vehicle – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to operate a light vehicle in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.  Defensive Driving is also available with this course.

 Operate and Maintain 4wD Vehicles – Duration 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory and technical specialist roles.

Work Safely at Heights – 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights.

Low Voltage Rescue & CPR – 4hrs

Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.  It covers the performance of rescue procedures from live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace.  It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Enter and Work in Confined Spaces- 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to safely work in and around confined spaces in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.  This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work in confined spaces.

FIRST AID COMPETENCIES

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – 1/2 day

Course Overview:

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Competency:

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid – 1 day

Course Overview:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid – 2 days

Course Overview:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Competency:

HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation – 1 day

Course Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

PUAEME008 Provide Pain Management – 1 day

Course Overview

This unit covers the competency required to administer restricted analgesics as a part of a medically supervised first responder organisation.

State/territory licensing procedures for the storage and administration of drugs apply to this unit.
